FREE parking in Downtown Portland!
Make sure to take advantage of our free parking program, Park and Shop for free parking while you enjoy everything Portland has to offer. Ask for Park & Shop stamps when you shop and dine downtown. Each stamp is good for one free hour of parking at participating garages and lots. Below you will find a list of participating merchants and garages.
Portland hosts many parking facilities as well as metered parking throughout downtown and meters are always free on Sundays.
If you ride a motorcycle, we have included a list of motorcycle and scooter parking locations as well.
The City of Portland has begun installation of new parking pay stations along the land side of Commercial Street, Fore Street, Federal Street near the Cumberland County Court House and Free Street as well as near the Maine Medical Center in the West End (see map below). This program will replace the city’s coin operated meters at these locations and throughout the city over time, so look for the signs to pay for your parking space. The new solar powered pay stations improve ease and accessibility of parking within the city. The eighteen pay stations accept coin, debit and credit cards and allow more vehicles to park along the street. The new stations also create neater, cleaner streetscapes, which improves sidewalk snow removal during the winter. Remember if you have time left on your receipt it is transferable to any metered space in the city. Just display your receipt in your windshield at your next metered parking space.
