2009 Light Up Your Holidays Events!
Come see the spectacular lighting of the tree at this annual tradition! Entertainment begins with a performance by the Maine State Ballet, Portland Symphony Orchestra, Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band and a very special guest!
Visit participating stores throughout downtown this season and be entered to win valuable gifts every week! Pick up an extra unwrapped toy or book as a gift for a child in need and join us Friday December 4 for METRO “Stuff a Bus” at METRO Pulse on Elm Street between 11am and 5:30pm. Shop For A Cause Day Shop downtown on Saturday, December 5 and a portion of the sales from participating stores are donated to Florence House, a comprehensive housing and resource center for homeless women in Portland opening this January by the Preble Street organization. Participating merchants are listed at portlandmaine.com Free Horse and Wagon Rides Enjoy the lights and sounds of the season on a free horse and wagon ride through enchanting downtown. Pick up and drop off every half-hour in Monument Square. Merry Madness Come to downtown Portland’s unique shopping event, Merry Madness! Participating shops stay open late, until 10pm so you can finish your holiday shopping and enjoy complimentary refreshments at participating shops.Merry Madness kicks off at the Eastland Park Hotel, 157 High Street from 5pm – 6pm with free hors d’oeuvres and raffle prizes from downtown shops. Souvenir 2009 Merry Madness wine glasses & mugs will be for sale! Stroll through downtown to enjoy the festive window displays! Be sure to email info@portlandmaine.com to vote for your favorite.
