One of Maine’s longest running and most popular polar bear dip events will return in-person this year at a new location, Southern Maine Community College on December 31st. Hundreds are expected to run, walk, and/or splash in the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean for the 15th annual Polar Bear Dip & Dash organized by the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) to benefit climate action.
Participants can now register online at: https://nrcm.salsalabs.org/dipdash. Participants have the opportunity to fundraise from friends and family in support of climate action in Maine.
The dip will take place from the shores of Casco Bay, and the dash route leads through the SMCC campus to Bug Light and back. Although the event is being held in person this year, a “remote” option is also available for those who want to participate but are unable to make the trek to South Portland or prefer to dip or dash in a place of their choosing.
