We’re celebrating Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday and his magnificent music in March! Enjoy from the comfort of your own home as Portland Municipal Organist James Kennerley livestreams this engaging performance on the Kotzschmar Organ from Portland’s beloved Merrill Auditorium.
This special concert draws music from two distinct periods of Bach’s life: selections from his monumental 1739 organ publication, Clavier-Übung (which literally means “keyboard practice”) and works that were originally composed for instruments other than the organ. Music to include the Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major, the Concerto for Two Violins in A minor after Vivaldi, and the virtuosic Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue.
