Event website

The Maine Film Association and Portland Media Center are proud to resume our Maine Filmmaker Showcase this fall, starting with a screening of REASON 4369, a documentary by Lewiston High School filmmakers Adey Ahmed, Abdullahi Abdi, Zamzam Elmoge, Fadumo Mohamed and Abukar Abdi, members of thegenzproject.

The team of filmmakers interviewed 20 of their peers, many of them immigrants, talking about their lives growing up in Lewiston. They “talk unflinchingly, and sometimes optimistically, about the city’s reputation, about community, about how they want to be remembered, about life.”

The #GENERATIONZPROJECT is a film-based storytelling initiative that focuses on empowering the adolescents of Generation Z on sharing their stories. They are a group of high school students from Lewiston High School committed to expressing their identities and having their voices be heard by older generations.

The screening of REASON 4369 will be followed by a Q&A with filmmakers Zamzam Elmoge and Adey Ahmed.

Doors open at 6:30pm. Suggested Donation: $5.

Presented by the Portland Media Center and the Maine Film Association, and made possible by the generous support of the Maine Humanities Council.
